ON SUBMISSION FEE WAIVERS
We do not grant submission fee waivers. Look, MMA’s deadline fees are FAR LESS THAN pretty much any other festival or contests’ submission fees so we are already doing our part to ease moviemakers’ financial burdens.

*Less the run-time of your picture, every submission is given the same amount of time and consideration by our selection committee; hence, it is the same price for features and shorts.

ELIGIBILITY AND RULES

FEATURE-LENGTH MOVIES
Any feature-length movie (70-180 minutes) created outside of the Hollywood system completed within the last three years may be submitted to this year’s Maverick Movie Awards. The only moviemakers who need not submit to the Maverick Movie Awards are those financed directly by or through a Hollywood studio, production company, distributor, agency, and/or management company. All DVDs and cases must be labeled with the title and running time of the entry and the category (Feature, Short, or Student) you would like to be considered for.

SHORT-LENGTH MOVIES
Any short-length movie (1-69 minutes) created outside of the Hollywood system completed within the last three years may be submitted to this year’s Maverick Movie Awards. The only moviemakers who need not submit to the Maverick Movie Awards are those financed directly by or through a Hollywood studio, production company, distributor, agency, and/or management company. All DVDs and cases must be labeled with the title and running time of the entry and the category (Feature, Short, or Student) you would like to be considered for.

STUDENT-MADE MOVIES
Any feature-length (70-180 minutes) or short-length (1-69 minutes) movie created by a student completed within the last three years may be submitted to this year’s Maverick Movie Awards. A photocopy of a valid student ID that corresponds with the completion date of the movie must accompany all entries to the Student-made Movies category. Graduate-level work is accepted. Note: Submission for this award DOES NOT restrict eligibility for Feature-length or Short-length awards categories or prizes. All DVDs and cases must be labeled with the title and running time of the entry and the category (Feature, Short, or Student) you would like to be considered for.

IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION
If shipping from within the United States, SHIP SUBMISSIONS USPS FIRST CLASS ONLY. And DO NOT SEND ANYTHING “SIGNATURE REQUIRED,” INSURED, PARCEL POST, OR REGISTERED MAIL. Our offices are not always manned during regular business hours, which is the reason for these shipping guidelines. If shipping to MMA from outside of the United States, please endeavor to ship using a method that does not require a recipient signature for delivery or proof of insurance. Of course, the most important thing is that we receive your submission so, if you must, you may ship using any carrier or method (even if a signature is required).

IMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION
DO NOT PAY BY PERSONAL OR COMPANY CHECK. Payment by credit card through Withoutabox is encouraged. Domestic or international money orders (ONLY!) for U.S. dollars are also accepted, made out to “MTP IV, LLC.” If you send a personal or company check, it will be destroyed and your submission will not be reviewed until proper payment is received. Also, if your submission deadline payment does not correspond with your postmark date, your submission will not be reviewed until total payment is received.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All genres of narrative, documentary, animated, musical, experimental, and/or performance-based feature-length, short-length, and student-made pictures are eligible for up to twenty-one awards. One (1) award is given to one of three to ten (3-10) nominees and will be selected for BOTH feature-length and short-length pictures for each “best” award-type. Student-made feature-length and short-length pictures will also be eligible to receive “best” awards and/or nominations. Award and nominee selections are made by the contest directors and the contest's selection committee and are final. Nominees followed by winners (approximately one week later) will be posted on our website at the close of the season. If selected, the moviemaker, controlling company, and/or submitter grants unrestricted rights/permission to the Maverick Movie Awards to list and promote the winning and/or nominated picture as well as any individual, group, company, and/or organization listed in the picture credits for the life of the Maverick Movie Awards. The Maverick Movie Awards does not pay any fees to list and/or promote submitted and/or selected movies or associated promotional/advertising materials. The moviemaker, controlling company, and/or submitter attests that any and all image, music, and/or other applicable rights have been legally cleared and granted. If not selected (and also as this may apply to those selected as winners or nominees), the moviemaker, controlling company, and/or submitter agrees to act like a grownup person (even if you are a minor) and guarantees not to sue or threaten to sue the Maverick Movie Awards, its parent company, its directors, staff, or volunteers, or take legal action or inflict litigation of any kind, and furthermore promises not to crank call us, write us flaming e-mails, or write, publish, and/or disseminate any derogatory whining (otherwise known as “slander”) anywhere, including on Internet postings, blogs, sites, twitters, etc. By submitting to the Maverick Movie Awards, you, the moviemaker, controlling company, and/or submitter agrees that he/she has the right and authority to submit and has read and fully understands all submission guidelines as well as the terms and conditions of the Maverick Movie Awards.
